The Community of Thollon
General Stores and Food
Shopping
The village, as an all-year round resort, is
well served with a variety of bars and
restaurants which offer a wide
range of foods and experiences. The vibe
is best described as quiet and relaxed, rather
than the buzzing and vibrant ski resorts of
Morzine or Les Gets.
Le St Nicholas Restaurant
St
Nicolas is located opposite the ski station
(and next to the Launderette). It has a nice
bar and an outside restaurant area.
The menu is typically Savoyard and the dishes
are of a high quality, famed for their
steaks, they also offer a plat de jour at a reasonable
price. It can get busy during peak seasons
in winter and summer.
A Choumas
Next
door to St Nicolas, A Choumas has a
more casual, relaxed atmosphere with an
good range of food on offer such as pizzas and
ice cream.
More a
place for a drink rather than a formal meal.
L'Outa
L'Outa
is located on the main road just past the ski
station area. The menu is again Savoyard,
including fondues. The atmosphere is
'intimate' and personal.
Quite an
old fashioned offering, very homely with a
personable owner/host, more a place for a formal
meal rather than a casual drink.
La Marmotte
La
Marmotte is situated near to the apartment.
Their speciality is pizzas and they are very
tasty and they are also available to take-away
after 19.00hrs (cost from 8 Euros). You
can also eat in and they offer a small menu
choice of salads as well.
La P'tit Savyard (Cafe)
There
is also a small cafe just down from La Marmotte.
It offers take away pizzas and other 'fast-food'
items as well as coffees and crepes.
Mainly a
cofee/casual drop in, but serves alcohol and
also has free Wi-Fi web access provided you are
buying something/drinking there. You may
be able to get a weak Wi-Fi signal from the
apartment itself as the Cafe is less thana
minute away from the apartment.

Bellevue
The Bellevue is located midway between the lower
(old) village and the upper (station) village.
It has a restaurant open to non-residents. Full
details can be found at their website (click
above).
Hotels - Bon Séjour - weblink >
Bon Séjour
The Bon Sejour is next door to the Bellevue and
also offers a restaurant to non-residents.
I have stayed at this hotel in the past and the
rooms are simple, but clean alpine style hotel
rooms. The restaurant is large and very
welcoming from the owners/hosts and their menus
are wide ranging and from what I've eaten in the
past, hearty and very tasty.
Le Repaire de L'aigle
Le Repaire de l'Aigle is the restaurant located
at the top of the cable car on the mountain
range (1500m). It has a self-service restaurant,
a bar and a balcony overlooking the ski area. It is in need of a little
refurbishment but is the only source of food and
hot drinks when you are skiing or hiking and it
does have a good, wide menu range and fairly
reasonable prices. |
